Steven Spierer, 12/14/13

At the age of six, Michael Schofield’s daughter Jani was diagnosed with one of the most severe cases of child-onset schizophrenia that her doctors had ever seen. Jani was hallucinating 95% of the time that she was awake and had over 200 imaginary friends. But some of these were not happy friends. Some would tell her to jump out of buildings, to scream at strangers and to hurt her baby brother. Steve interviews Michael Schofield, author of January First: A Child’s Descent into Madness and Her Father’s Struggle to Save Her.
