Every week, in four counties, across four American states there are over 200 cases of opiate overdose. This is not a sudden outbreak, in fact, this problem has been around since the mid 1990s when the opiate pain medication OxyContin became the catalyst that hooked millions of Americans on heroin, a cheap and powerful form of the drug produced in Mexico independent of the drug cartels.
