Fevzi and Nick delve into Nick’s digital footprint – and discover that there’s a frighteningly large amount of information about him – and all of us online. Then they discuss interracial marriages after new research shows more of us are marrying out of our ‘home cultures’. Is it a good thing, a bad thing, or should it even be good or bad at all? Of course, one great way to get a partner is to have a billion dollars, and your hosts discover that some enterprising criminals have recently tried to forge just that.
Fevzi & Nick discuss:
Whether Brits should be barred from the USA for what they Tweet.
Whether the FBI or Scotland Yard can be trusted with our personal data, and
Whether Mitt & Newt are really the best that American Republicanism has to offer.
It’s the battle of the sexes in this week’s show as we discuss exploding breast implants and the emerging trend for men to have the same body-consciousness issues as women. Then, is modern feminism denying men their rights to see their children, and are men adequately represented in domestic violence situations? But none of that matters anyway, because we’re all under the spell of advertisers, and according to some new research, both Fevzi and Nick’s brains are gently imploding into mush.
Fevzi and Nick take a look back at some of the key moments of 2011 including the Arab Spring and some of President Obama’s achievements or otherwise, along with some of their usual off topic banter… Both Nick & Fevzi wish you a very happy New Year, and hope to see you on the other side.
Fevzi and Nick are about as festive as, well, Scrooge. Ponytails, why we both had them, and why we don’t any more; then Nike Air Jordans and why you don’t want them, particularly if you’re going to pay $600 to pick them up on Ebay. Then we look at the brutal regime of Kim Jong Il, the dangers of propaganda, and how lucky we are to live in slightly less oppressive regimes. Finally, the one bunch of people we dislike even more than Kim Jong Il: London ’s overpaid tube drivers and their stranglehold on the capital. There’s no Bethlehem , just Gotham City !
Fevzi and Nick not surprisingly devote most of the show to wrestling with the mighty chasm that has developed between the UK and Europe . Britain stands alone on the sidelines of a critical agreement between the other 26 EU countries, and only time will tell whether Britain has played a masterstroke or lost the gamble of the century. Do Fevzi and Nick have the answers? No- but that doesn’t mean they haven’t got an opinion. Oh, and for much needed light relief, the Tom Robinson band and Nick’s musical ignorance
Dinosaurs, whether they existed, and whether Nick should fire an employee for thinking they didn’t; the banking system and why Fevzi won’t listen to the news any more; and what Nick does for a day job. We finally got to proper news about half way through the show with political posturing from our leaders in the EU, diplomatic posturing from Iran and the rest of the world’s weary responses; and at last some upbeat stuff: a better set of unemployment statistics in the US. For the inside track on how two grumpy men think the world works, listen on!
Black Friday – where did it come from, why are we so seduced by retailers, do we really need pepper spray and should we burn all our possessions? Then, the military in Egypt and the symbolism of tanks; and Robocop comes to Korean prisons. All of which ended up being a discussion about the philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, and whether Nick would talk to a computer when he’s feeling miserable. Want to tell us your opinion?
